Ministries > Street
Children
The saddest sight once can see anywhere in the world
is a child living on the streets with inadequate clothing
and not enough to eat.
Russia is no exception to this sadness. Most of the
children are in this circumstance as a result of parental
alcoholism and drug abuse. Many parents who cannot face
life without alcohol and drugs end up abandoning their
children; others in fits of depression commit suicide
(the large rate of suicide rate in Russia is primarily
due to alcohol abuse).
Russian Missions answers the needs of these children
through humanitarian care programs such as soup kitchens
that supply nourishment, assistance to orphanages that
provide for the physical needs and our caring missionaries
who provide for their spiritual needs. Through children's
ministries, Russian Missions has given these children
the gift of hope that only faith can bring. This outreach has proven to be very effective in keeping
the innocents from following the self-destructive paths
of their parents.
"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and
judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy."
Proverbs 31:8-9
